ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Marshall University volleyball team (8-6) completed a weekend sweep in Utah to take the Southern Utah/Utah Tech Invitational with a five-set win (28-26, 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12) over Utah Tech on Saturday.
Brynn Brown registered her second triple-double of the weekend, third of the season, with 25 assists, 15 kills and 14 digs. Peyton Neal recorded a match-high 35 digs as Jazminn Parrish tied Brown with a team-high 15 kills.
"I am so proud of the growth this team has shown during this non-conference segment," Herd volleyball head coach Ari Aganus said. "We have been challenged and they have each handled the adversity we've had thrown our way, like champions. We're ready for the Sun Belt and can't wait to be back in front of our home crowd next week against ODU."
Down 11-8 late in the fifth set, Marshall buckled down. The Herd rallied to end the final set on a 7-1 run, including three kills from Brown in the final four points, to take the match.
MU forced the take-all set after taking the fourth 25-21 with a match-best .343 hitting percentage and narrowly capturing the first set in extra points, 28-26.
The Trailblazers took the second and third sets 25-18 and 25-20, respectively.
