Herd Tennis Closes Out Day One at Thunder in the Mountains

Marshall wins 12 matches on first day of fall event
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University tennis team finished day one of Thunder in the Mountains in Charleston, West Virginia, on Friday with 12 wins - six in doubles, six in singles.
"Everyone was excited to get the season started," Marshall tennis coach John Mercer said. "It's great to be close to home in Charleston and our team really appreciates their hospitality. Tomorrow, we look forward to playing well and representing the Herd."
Sophia Hurrion and Emma Vanderheyden went a perfect 3-0 on the day. Aisling McGrane won both of her doubles contests - one with Vanderheyden and another with Andjela Lopicic. Rieke Gillar, Emily Schut and Sophia Hurrion each added a win in singles and doubles.
Action continues on Saturday with Day 2 from Thunder In The Mountains at Schoenbaum Tennis Courts in Kanawha City.
