Herd falls Thursday in Norfolk to the Monarchs

NORFOLK, Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (9-10, 4-2 Sun Belt) dropped its contest to the Old Dominion Monarchs (5-13, 1-5 Sun Belt), 91-66, Thursday night in Norfolk, Virginia.
"We had too many players trying to make plays and not play like Marshall," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said, "We have to carry this one down to James Madison. I don't care if we win or lose. We have to start playing good basketball. That was bad basketball."
With 21 points on a 7-for-14 shooting night, Obinna Anochili-Killen notched his second consecutive game of 20 or more points. The Lagos, Nigeria, native added seven rebounds, a pair of steals and a block to his stat line.
Kamdyn Curfman and Nate Martin each followed with 12 points as Martin also grabbed boards. Jacob Conner brought down a career-high 11 rebounds in the contest.
Marshall came out hot in the contest making five of its first attempts from the field. The Green and White led by four at halftime, 38-34, after closing out the final minute and a half on a 7-0 run.
The Monarchs got hot in the second half making 67.6 percent of their shots in the final 20 minutes of play.
Game Notes
Anochili-Killen has registered 20 or more points in six games this season and hasn't scored fewer than 19 in his last five.
Curfman has tallied double-figure points in his last 13 contests as Martin hit the plateau for the 12th time during the campaign.
