Final Results

KETTERING, Ohio – Marshall junior Ryan Bilby finished under-par for the second straight day, using a 1-under 70 on Tuesday to earn a 2nd place finish at the 2024 Dayton Flyer Invitational.

Bilby was one of only four participants to finish under par for the tournament, which was played at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.

As a team, Marshall finished with the third-best round of the day on Tuesday to earn a 5th place finish in the tournament.

"This was a really good week for us to end our fall schedule," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "The guys fought really tough conditions and we saw some great things from them. Ryan Bilby capped an incredible fall with a runner-up finish. Now, we get a little break before we get ready for the spring."

Bilby led the entire field with 13 birdies on the week and took full advantage of the par-5s on the course, going 5-under on those holes in three rounds of action.

Tuesday's final round saw Bilby finish with five birdies including three in a seven-hole stretch that had him in contention for the win.

The final day proved to be the toughest with only four rounds under par – Bilby's being one of them.

In addition to Bilby, Marshall's J.F. Aber was one of Tuesday's biggest movers, climbing 10 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 24th after a 1-over 72.

Play was halted prior to the end of the second round due to darkness on Monday, but there were plenty of highlights for the Herd, including Joseph Kalaskey's 2-under 69, which was one of the tournament's top rounds of the week.

Clayton Thomas had one of the week's only eagles when he putted in from the fringe on the par-5 10th hole during his 2nd round on Monday.

Cameron Jarvis also showed his abilities, notching three consecutive birdies in his first round of action on Monday while Andrew Wyss also had an impressive second round – a 1-over 72 – while competing as an individual.

The 2024 Dayton Flyer Invitational was the last event on the fall schedule for Marshall Men's Golf. The next scheduled event for the team is the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, which is Feb. 1-2 in Statesboro, Georgia. The next team action is the Loyola Intercollegiate, scheduled for Feb. 16-18 in Goodyear, Arizona.

"I am already looking forward to heading to Georgia Southern and Phoenix," Grobe said. "This team is so much fun to be around and coach!"
