Mastin Sets New Personal Best at Live in Lou Classic Gold Race

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Marshall senior Kylee Mastin set a new 5K personal-best time of 17:16 at the loaded Live in Lou Classic Saturday morning. Her 15th place finish was the top Sun Belt Conference finish at the event with 263 finishers.
It is the second-consecutive race Mastin has set a personal record.
Marshall's senior's result led the Marshall women to a 14th place finish out of 27 teams.
Sophomore Garrett Ferguson led the Marshall men with a time of 25:32. The men finished 24th in the top race of the day.
Both Marshall teams competed in the Gold Race at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The 23rd Annual event featured over 100 schools in Louisville.
"It was exciting to be in the gold race, to compete against some of the top teams on our side of the country," Coach Caleb Bowen said. "I thought our teams competed well. I like how close our groups were, especially on the women's side. I see a lot of positives and some things to work on as well which is exciting."
