HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall and Northern Kentucky put on a show Sunday for the loud 1,245 fans at the Cam Henderson Center, but it was the visitors who had the final act with a corner-three with 1.6 seconds remaining to win, 80-78.
The corner triple followed a driving layup by Meredith Maier with 18.2 remaining. The clutch drive punctuated a career-day for Marshall's junior. Maier had a new career-best 25 points with six-made threes for Head Coach Juli Fulks, making her home debut.

"We went ahead and then obviously we had a chance there at the end," Coach Juli Fulks said. "That is two games in a row that we've been right there and we've got to find a way to win that last minute."
The Herd trailed by 12 at the break, but quickly shot its way back into the game in the 3rd, with senior Aislynn Hayes netting 11 of her 20 points. The second half also saw a debuting redshirt-freshman Timberlynn Yeast score her first four collegiate points, with a pair of rebounds and an assist.
It was the Herd's junior Maier leading the comeback, with seven points with a pair of defensive stops.
"Freshman year, I was still playing like I was in high school I would say," Maier said. "I think last year taught us that you can be down 10 points and depending on how many possessions are played within that time it can change the game. We just try not to lose faith and know that however many minutes you have left, you have to execute."
The Herd continues its three-game homestand at the Cam Henderson Center Wednesday evening against Elon. Tip from Huntington is at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
