HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team captured a 226-140 win in its two-day dual over the Buffalo Bulls on Saturday.

"I'm really proud of how the team showed up this weekend," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "There are some race details we can continue to sharpen as we get closer to mid-season, but overall, we're right where we need to be."

The Herd took first in seven of the 10 events on the final day. MU bookended the day by winning the 200 Medley Relay with Mia McBride, Paige Banton, Madeline Hart and Kseniia Luniushina finishing in 1:44.64 and Molly Warner, Nina Nugent, Luniushina and Hart taking the 400 Freestyle Relay in 3:30.44.

Preslava Tosheva won the 500 Freestyle (5:01.75) with Warner coming out on top in 200 Individual Medley (2:06.37).

Luniushina picked up a win in the 100 Backstroke (54.78), Banton followed with a first-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.47) and Hart in the 100 Butterfly (2:06.04).

In diving, Grace Kelsheimer was the team's best finisher with a 279.23 in the 1m for second and a score of 271.35 for third in the 3m.

"Next week will be another good test as we face off against the defending SBC champions here at home," Walsh said. "We hope to have another great crowd."

MU stays at home with a dual against James Madison at Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium on Saturday at 11 a.m.

"The support for our program and the ALS United Mid-Atlantic this weekend was wonderful," Walsh said about the support received for ALS Awareness Weekend. "We are grateful for the support of this community, athletic department, and student body."

The team held ALS Awareness weekend to fundraise for the Do It For Daisy campaign in honor of Walsh's mother, who passed recently from the disease. All proceeds raised will support the ALS United Mid-Atlantic whose tireless work helps with the financial and emotional needs of the ALS patient and their families. Every dollar donated will bolster a number of their efforts, including but not limited to, financial grants to provide in-home care, a durable equipment loaner closet and emotional support and guidance through a network of ALS social workers.
