Marshall Tennis Closes Fall Saturday at CofC Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Marshall University Tennis Team finished its fall on Saturday on the last day of competition in Charleston, South Carolina, at the CofC Classic.

"Great weekend for Sophia. Everyone showed great signs of improvement," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said.

Nel Van Hout had a perfect day in doubles pairing with Aisling McGrane for a 6-4 win over Charleston Southern's Emmie Moore and Marina Skegro along with a 6-4 victory with Johanna Strom over Samford's Libby Blair and Hailey Troup.

Emma Vanderheyden and Sophia Hurrion took down Samford's Sara Erenda and Margaret Jaraczewski 7-5.

Hurrion continued her singles prowess during the weekend over Samford's Erenda in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, as Vanderheyden had a straight-set triumph, 6-4, 6-1, over Jaraczewski.
