Herd Tennis Takes Opening Match of 2025 over Cleveland State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (1-0) picked up a 4-3 win over the Cleveland State Vikings (0-1) Friday afternoon in Cleveland, Ohio, to open 2025.
In doubles, Sophia Hurrion and Alina Mokrynskaya started with a 6-1 win on court two over Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz. Then with doubles tied 1-1, Aisling McGrane and Nel Van Hout battled to a 7-5 decision on court three over Jenna Redmile and Filippa Frogner to seal the doubles point.
Hurrion took her momentum into singles with a straight-sets win, 6-1, 6-1, over Redmile to make it 2-0 Marshall. Van Hout quickly followed with a 6-2, 6-2, victory on court six over Frogner.
Then on court three, Mokrynskaya triumphed over Vevere, 6-2, 7-6(5), to give The Herd the victory its opening dual of the Spring.
