Herd Women’s Hoops Set for Inaugural State Farm WBCA Showcase

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall's women's basketball team (1-3) has the opportunity to play two games for a national audience on Peacock against Penn State (5-0) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Tulsa (1-2) Saturday at noon in the Inaugural State Farm WBCA Showcase.
Both games will take place from the State Farm Field House at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.

Coach Juli Fulks
- On Apr. 12, 2024, Coach Juli Fulks became the ninth head coach in the history of the Herd.
- Fulks - the 2024 WBCA DIII Coach of the Year - joins Marshall with 400 career victories in 20 seasons, winning the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship.
PRE-GAME NOTES
- The Herd returns 10 players from its 2023-24 SBC-winning squad which finished 26-7 (17-1 SBC). The team's leading scorer with 17.8 PPG through four games this season, Aislynn Hayes was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference First Team.
- Six newcomers join Marshall's squad in 2024 - five transfers and one incoming freshman. One such transfer is graduate senior guard Madison Kellione. The Cynthiana, Ky. native is leading the Herd so far with 3.8 assists per game and 2.3 steals per game.
- The Thundering Herd has been picked sixth in the Preseason SBC poll.
- This weekend will mark the Herd's sixth early season tournament appearance in the Sunshine State, dating back to the 1984-85 season. All-time, Marshall is 6-8 in such showcases.

ABOUT PENN STATE
- Receiving votes in the NCAA Coaches' Poll, Penn State enters the weekend with a 5-0 record.
- Marshall is 0-2 all-time against the Nittany Lions, with the teams last meeting in the Cam Henderson Center during the 2017-18 season. Penn State won that contest, 80-65.
ABOUT TULSA
- Tulsa enters the State Farm WBCA Showcase with a 1-2 record. Delanie Crawford leads the team with 13.3 PPG.
- Former C-USA foes, Saturday will be the 10th meeting all-time, with Marshall leading the series, 5-4.
