KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Marshall's women's basketball team closed its 2024 State Farm WBCA Showcase with a dramatic come-from-behind overtime victory over Tulsa, 84-80. Senior Aislynn Hayes scored a career-high 31 points in the win at the State Farm Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Marshall (2-4) trailed by as much as 12 in the first half to the Golden Hurricane (1-4), but remained in the game with a season-high 10 three-pointers made in the opening 20 minutes. The Herd made 13 for the game, also a season-best.
The Herd rallied in the second half on clutch scoring from Hayes, Madison Kellione - who finished with a season-best 20 points, and Ashley Tudor whose layup with 11.1 seconds remaining sent the game to OT.

Marshall also fought back with defense, winning the rebounding margin in the second half forward despite switching to a small and quick lineup.
"The one thing that has been true about this team in every game is that they compete," Coach Juli Fulks said. "Huge credit to all of our assistant coaches because their job in practice has been every time for the game that came that if we had to switch defense to man-to-man that we were going to be able to do it. We have the right personnel so we made a complete flip and went to a smaller lineup and kudos to the players because they did a great job on defense and we were much more settled on the offense as a result in the second half."
Of Kellione's season-high 20 points, 12 came in the second half and eight in overtime. The graduate senior transfer knocked down two important triples in the extra period.

"I have coached Maddie for a long time and she has the firepower," Coach Fulks said. "Finding more ways to use her has been something that is important because the more scorers you have the harder you are to defend. A ton of credit to CC Mays, Meredith, and Aislynn because they had so many possessions where they got in the paint, played it off two feet and found open shooters."
The Herd will enjoy Disney World on Sunday and have a full week to prepare for Salem on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. from the Cam Henderson Center.
