Okiyoshi, Rodrigues dos Santos Named 2024 MAC Herman Trophy Semifinalists

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Men's Soccer fifth-year senior Taimu Okiyoshi and senior Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos were named semifinalists for the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy on Wednesday.

The Herd was one of only three programs to have multiple semifinalists along with Duke and Ohio State.

Okiyoshi is the lone player on the squad to start all 22 matches playing in 1,927 of a possible 2,000 minutes, the most on the team, as a midfielder and on the backline. The native of Kobe, Japan, registered four assists this season with all four coming against SBC opponents with one against JMU (Oct. 4), two at Georgia State (Oct. 27) and one at Kentucky (Nov. 1).

Rodrigues dos Santos has registered 35 points, third in the nation, on 15 goals, fourth in the country, and five assists in 22 matches, including 21 starts. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has tallied 10 goals in his last 12 matches including seven goal contributions in the 2024 NCAA Tournament with a pair of goals against Furman, a pair of goals against NC State and a goal with a pair of assists at SMU.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and year.

Three men's finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after voting by NCAA Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy winner will then be announced at a press conference at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 3, 2025, followed by a dinner to celebrate all of the 2024 finalists.
