Marshall SAAC To Host ‘Warm Wishes’ Drive On Dec. 15

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is teaming with the Army National Guard and Barboursville Walmart to host a "Warm Wishes" Drive on Dec. 15.
Located at 25 Nichols Drive in Barboursville, the "Warm Wishes" Drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature many different groups of Marshall student-athletes helping to collect donation items while also serving as shopper helpers for those who want to make someone's Christmas a little brighter in 2024.
This drive focuses on toys and warm clothes, including gloves, socks, scarves, coats and more, that will help underprivileged children in the area. Those items can be brought to the Barboursville Walmart for later distribution.
Those unable to attend or those who would rather make a cash donation can do so through the Big Green's Venmo Account by specifying "SAAC" in the payment description.
Santa Claus will be in town throughout the day to bring smiles and help with the event while Marshall student-athlete groups will also be there. Times for the student-athlete groups include:
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Marshall Women's Golf and Marshall Volleyball
- 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Marshall Football and Marshall Women's Basketball
- 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Marshall Men's Basketball
The Marshall University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is an NCAA-supported group of over forty student-athletes representing each athletic program. SAAC leads community service projects throughout the year and provides valuable feedback to the department to enhance the student-athlete experience.
