Marshall’s Mike Green Named Associated Press Second Team All-American

Green’s nomination is 1st for Herd defense on AP list since Vinny Curry in 2011
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall defensive lineman Mike Green was named as an Associated Press Second Team All-American on Monday morning.
Green becomes the first Marshall defensive player to earn Associated Press All-American honors since Vinny Curry in 2011 and he's only the third AP All-American for the Herd in the last 20 years.
The 2024 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year helped Marshall to a 10-3 record and the 2024 SBC Championship over Louisiana while putting together one of the most impressive single seasons in Marshall and Sun Belt Conference history.
With a sack in the 2024 SBC Championship against Louisiana, the Williamsburg, Virginia, native broke the Sun Belt Conference's single-season sacks record and tied Marshall's single-season record while leading all FBS players in 2024 with 17.0 sacks.
In addition to sacks, Green led all FBS players in the following categories in 2024: sack yardage (144), tackles for loss (22.5), TFL yardage (155) and tackles by a defensive lineman (84).
Green's nomination to the Associated Press All-American Team further cements him as one of the most decorated players in Marshall Football history, joining the short list that includes Curry, Randy Moss, Johnathan Goddard and Cain Madden as Marshall players who have earned the honor at the FBS level.
The Associated Press All-American list is one of five accredited All-American lists that help determine Consensus All-American status. Those include Walter Camp, AFCA, Associated Press, FWAA and The Sporting News.
