HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Junior forward Nate Martin made Marshall University Men's Basketball (11-12, 6-4 Sun Belt) history on Thursday with the eighth triple-double in program history on Thursday night against Old Dominion (6-16, 2-8 Sun Belt).
The Herd fell to the Monarchs, 83-76, in Huntington.
"It was a tough loss, we needed to win that, and we didn't," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said. "They (Old Dominion) shot the ball really well. I thought we defended it well and they just shot it really well. But we made critical mistakes down the end."
Martin scored 15 points to go with 12 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists for the first triple-double of his career. Obinna Anochili-Killens also registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
With 23 points on an 8-for-15 shooting night, Kevon Voyles tallied his second contest of at least 20 points this season and set a new season-high.
The game was a back-and-forth affair seeing eight lead changes and the score tied six times.
Old Dominion used a pair of big runs that Marshall couldn't overcome. ODU had a 12-0 run in the first half and scored 13 of the final 16 points in the contest to take the contest from MU.
Game Notes
MU's last triple-double came on January 20, 2018, when Jon Elmore had 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Marshall registered 26 assists on 28 makes from the field.
The Herd outrebounded the Monarchs 39-38 on the glass, including 11-6 on the offensive glass.
