Marshall Falls in Series Finale Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va — Marshall pitchers' Bub Feringa and Savannah Rice had strong outings for the second-consecutive game Saturday, but the Herd (17-18) dropped its series finale by a 4-0 scoreline.

ULM (21-14) swept the series following Saturday's result.

Feringa started and pitched three scoreless innings to begin, being aided by a pair of Kasia Parks diving grabs in center to keep the Warhawks scoreless. Marshall's junior utility player had a hit while throwing the 7th inning as well, giving up just one earned run across the four frames she pitched.

Rice hurled three innings in relief, with the lone blemish being a two-run home run by the visitors in the 6th to extend its lead to four runs. MU's senior pitcher allowed just three hits Saturday.

Offensively, Brooklyn Ulrich had two doubles on the afternoon. Ulrich went 4-for-10 (.400) for the weekend.

Marshall again had opportunities early with bases loaded and one out in the 2nd, but an inning-ending double play ended the Herd's scoring threat. MU had runners in scoring position in the 3rd, but a failed bunt attempt ended the chance.

UP NEXT

Marshall gets a chance to respond against Queens on Tuesday at home for a non-conference matchup. First pitch from Dot Hicks Field is at 4 p.m.
