Marshall Student-Athlete Advisory Committee To Host Community Book Drive

Donors can drop off books at four locations, including this weekend at Dot Hicks Field
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting a Community Book Drive to provide books and a bookcase to local schools within our community.
SAAC will accept donations of new or used children's books at four different locations throughout May.
The first opportunities to drop off books for the drive will be this weekend at Marshall Softball games at Dot Hicks Field during games at 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and Noon on Sunday. The drop-off box will be located by Marshall's marketing table as the Herd takes on App State.
Jack Cook Field will also host a donation box during Marshall Baseball gamedays. That drop-off box will also be located by the marketing table at Marshall Baseball events.
In addition to the gameday drop-off points, there are also two permanent locations for anytime book drop-offs between now and the end of the drive:
- The Big Green Office, 1900 Third Avenue, Huntington, WV 25703
o inside the City National Bank building
- Shewey Athletics Building, 2001 Third Avenue, Huntington, WV 25703
Marshall University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is a committee made up of Marshall student-athletes from various sports who provide insight on the student-athlete experience by serving as a liaison between student-athletes, the athletic department and the community.
The Community Book Drive is a continuation of the Sun Belt Conference's Literacy Initiative.
