Marshall’s Jack Betz, Abbey Bull Earn SBC Postgraduate Scholarships

Herd duo honored by Sun Belt with $4,500 awards to pursue graduate programs
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics had a pair of recipients of the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships, the SBC announced on Wednesday.
Jack Betz, Marshall Men's Track and Field/Cross Country, and Abbey Bull, Women's Golf, each received a $4,500 Postgraduate Scholarship Award to go toward a graduate program of their choice.
"We want to congratulate Jack and Abbey on receiving these awards and continuing to represent Marshall University at a high level in all facets," said Gerald J. Harrison, Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics. "These two student-athletes have committed to the Herd Mentality and these awards will help them Honor Their Journey as they strive toward their fullest potential. We want to thank the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship Committee for recognizing these great representatives of Marshall University."
Marshall Athletics was the lone Sun Belt Conference member to have two student-athletes earn SBC Postgraduate Scholarships, further cementing the Herd's commitment to a holistic student-athlete experience through the Herd Mentality.
This year, there were eight Sun Belt Conference student-athletes chosen for the Postgraduate Scholarships by the Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference.
To be eligible for Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships, nominees must have exhausted eligibility, been declared or designated a varsity letter winner in a Sun Belt-sanctioned sport at a member institution for at least two seasons and achieved a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
The SBC Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded to select student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree following the completion of their undergraduate requirements and are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient's choice.
