Herd Track and Field’s Four Compete at NCAA Championships First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A rain-filled day started early and ended late for Marshall track and field's four qualifying athletes for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor T&F Championships East First Round.
The day finished with senior Abby Herring making her final collegiate appearance in the 10K, a race which started at 10:45 p.m., nearly five hours later than scheduled. Herring finished 41st with a time of 34:47.50.
The Parkersburg, West Virginia's storied Thundering Herd career finished Thursday, she leaves Huntington with seven school records.
Earlier on Thursday, Rebecca Merritt, Tyra Thomas, and Kylee Mastin all competed against the top competition from the East Region as well, their results are listed below.

Hammer Throw: Rebecca Merritt - 55.82m (35th in East Region)
100M Hurdles: Tyra Thomas - 13.71 (38th in East Region)
1500M - Kylee Mastin - 4:29.97 (41st in East Region)
10K - Abby Herring - 34:47.50 (41st in East Region)
