Herd Softball Advances on to Postseason Play

Marshall shutout in regular season finale
2024 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship Bracket
SAN MARCOS, Texas — Marshall softball (24-27) will be the 10-seed in next week's Sun Belt Softball Championship.
The team learned its bracket fate Saturday following a 5-0 defeat in the series finale.Â
The Herd will be playing Wednesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. EST, 7 CST against the 7-seed, Georgia Southern. For the full SBC Tournament Bracket, view HERE.Â
With a win in the opening round, MU would advance to again face Texas State (42-13), the 2-seed and tournament hosts.
The Bobcats shut out the Herd for just the third time this season Saturday in 51 games.
Even with the result, Coach Morgan Zerkle's team finishes the regular season as the Sun Belt Conference's top hitting team for the second-consecutive season, with a .321 average.Â
In conference play alone, the Herd improved from a .305 average in 2023 to .332 in 24 games this season.  Â

Marshall will remain in Texas in preparation for next week's Sun Belt Softball Championship, hosted at Bobcat Stadium. Â
