HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT on Wednesday.

"I am so proud of our student athletes earning AVCA academic recognition," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Ari Aganus said. "These young women will be the leaders of our future and are able to do that while competing at a very elite level. We encompass the human as a whole and put the person first. They show that with this amazing award."

The AVCA Team Academic Award is awarded to collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.

The team excelled in the classroom with a 3.56 GPA exceeding the threshold needed of maintaining at least a 3.3 during the year.
