Marshall Golfer J.F. Aber Qualifies For 2024 U.S. Amateur

Herd to have three current/former representatives in 312-player field
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Men's Golf transfer J.F. Aber qualified for the 2024 U.S. Amateur with a T-9 finish at the qualifier at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course last week.
Aber, a graduate transfer from Wittenberg University, finished the day with an Even-par 71 to earn one of 14 available spots.
With Aber advancing, Marshall will have three current and former golfers competing in the 312-man field for the 2024 U.S. Amateur – Aber and former golfers Christian Brand and Davey Jude.
"JF Aber had an incredible college career at Wittenberg and we can't wait for him to join us this fall," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "It is very exciting to have three guys with Marshall ties competing in the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship."
Consistency was the critical component to Aber's qualifying round as he led the field with 16 pars to secure his spot in the 312-man field for the 2024 U.S. Amateur.
After a bogey at No. 3, Aber quickly came back with a birdie at No. 5 to get to level, then parred his final 13 holes to earn the spot.
It continues a recent trend of strong play for Aber, who was named as a finalist for the 2024 NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus Award, which capped a career at Wittenberg in which he was a two-time All-American and was also the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year after winning medalist honors at the 2024 NCAC Championships.
Brand earned his spot into the field by winning the 105th W.Va. Amateur by a record 21 shots in May.
Jude earned his spot in the 2024 U.S. Amateur field with a 2-under 69 at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
The battle for the coveted Havemeyer Trophy at the 124th U.S. Amateur will take place Aug. 12-18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club and Chaska Town Course in Chaska, Minnesota.
