Kylee Mastin Named Sun Belt Conference Women’s Runner of the Week

Mastin led all runners in the conference at Friday’s race at App State
NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University graduate senior Kylee Mastin has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Runner of the Week on Wednesday as announced by the league office.
Mastin set a new 6K personal-best time of 20:57 in a 3rd place finish Friday at App State's Firetower Project Run. The New Carlisle, Ohio native's time led all SBC athletes at the meet.
"Kylee is one of the most dedicated student-athletes in the country," Director of XC/TF Keith Roberts said. "She is extremely talented but it's her hard work that has taken her to another level. I am elated that she chose to stay here to finish her master's degree. She continues to help us build something special at Marshall. We are very proud to have her represent the program."
Mastin is a two-time Sun Belt Conference champion, winning the Indoor Mile and Outdoor 1500 last season. She won the 2024 Thundering Herd Invitational 5K prior to Friday's result.
"I'm so proud of Kylee!" Head Cross Country Coach Caleb Bowen said. "Ever since she stepped foot at Marshall University, Kylee has dedicated herself to becoming the best that she can be. She works extremely hard every day and even more so now that she's in her master's degree internship rotations, where most days she gets her runs in at 5 am in the morning. She's an incredible person and I can't wait to see what she does this year."
Mastin and the Herd cross country teams return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the prestigious Live in Lou Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.
