Stjernegaard Named SBC Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Men's Soccer junior midfielder Alexander Stjernegaard was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
"He's got a cannon from range, which is very helpful when teams are defending their box with so many numbers," Herd Men's Soccer Head Coach Chris Grassie said about Stjernegaard. "If he catches his strike well, they're usually unstoppable."
The Danish midfielder tallied the game-winner in 58th minute in MU's SBC opener on Friday at South Carolina. He volleyed home a Gamecock clearance from just outside the 18-yard box for his second goal of the season.
Stjernegaard leads The Herd with eight points this season on four assists and a pair of goals.
No. 10 Marshall is back in action on Wednesday night at Hoops Family Field when it hosts (RV) VCU at 7:15 p.m.
