Bilby earns a top-10 finish after ending tournament at 2-under
NASHPORT, Ohio – Marshall Men's Golf finished a rain-shortened Virtues Intercollegiate tied at fourth in the team standings.
The event was shortened to 36 holes after remnants of Hurricane Helene moved inland and impacted Virtues Golf Club, leaving play suspended on Saturday.
"This was another challenging tournament for us in which the weather was definitely a factor," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "This was our second tournament in a row that was shortened to just 36 holes. I was really happy with the guys and how they fought through the elements and handled the delays. They all showed a lot of patience and continued focus on every shot."
Marshall's Ryan Bilby had just a few holes to finish on Sunday and left with a pair of rounds at par or better to finish tied for 7th in the individual portion of the tournament.
"Ryan really played great this week," Grobe said. "His ball-striking was so solid, despite the conditions."
Marshall finished tied with Wright State for fourth overall in the team standings at 3-over. Michigan won the tournament at 17-under for the two rounds.
The Herd returns to action on Friday as the team's individuals take part in The Indy at Forest Hills Golf Club.
