Herd Volleyball Heads North for the EMU Tournament

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (2-1) travels north to Ypsilanti, Michigan, for the EMU Tournament beginning Friday. Herd to face Oakland on Friday with matches against George Washington and Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Friday Sept. 6 vs. Oakland – 4 p.m.
Saturday Sept. 7 vs. GW – 11 a.m.
Saturday Sept. 7 at EMU – 3 p.m.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

The Herd went 2-1 at the Wildcat Classic last weekend with sweeps over ETSU and Elon.
Senior setter Brynn Brown earned the SBC Setter of the Week award for her performance at the tournament as she was named to the all-tournament team for averaging 8.22 assists per set.
McKenna Melton was also named to the all-tournament team with 28 kills (3.11 per set).

SCOUTING OAKLAND

The Golden Grizzlies went 1-2 at the Buffalo Invite last week falling to Buffalo, 3-0, and Army, 3-2, while sweeping Hampton.
Tyler Linkhart had 37 kills last weekend averaging 3.36 per set across the team's three matches.
On defense, Ainsley Guse had 14 rejections, including seven solo efforts.

SCOUTING GW

The Revolutionaries went 2-1 last week in the DC Challenge sweeping UC Riverside and Howard and suffered a 3-1 defeat to American.
Salem Yohannes was named the A-10 Player of the Week after averaging 3.70 kills per set and 4.50 points per set for the Revolutionaries.

SCOUTING EMU

The Eagles traveled to the Hampton Inn Invitational in Indianapolis last weekend falling in a sweep to SIUE and picking up victories over IU Indy and Valparaiso.
Before starting the tournament, EMU has a match on Wednesday at Michigan.
EMU ranks seventh in the country at 3.58 blocks per set after the opening weekend.
