Coastal (14-6, 5-5 SBC) closed the second quarter on an 8-0 run and forced eight of its 22 total turnovers to pull ahead by 13 at the break.
"Well we obviously got off to a really hot start which was great especially after some of the recent shooting woes we have had," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "We knocked a lot of shots down early and we spent a lot of time the last two days on the press break and I thought we handled that early. Then we had so many passes which we didn't come and meet and it didn't seem like after a few minutes that we matched the intensity very well."

Meredith Maier and Madison Kellione led the way with 20 points and 11 points apiece. Both contributed with threes in the opening quarter outburst.
The Herd continues its road trip Saturday, Feb. 1 at Georgia Southern. Tip from the brand-new Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center is at 1 p.m. Saturday.
