Emma Vanderheyden Named SBC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University Tennis senior Emma Vanderheyden was named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.
Vanderheyden finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record in a pair of matches against EKU and Bellarmine going 2-0 at No. 1 Doubles with partner Alina Mokrynskaya and 2-0 at No. 2 Singles.
Against the Colonels, Vanderheyden combined with Mokrynskaya to win 6-2 to clinch the doubles point and took her singles contest in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to seal the match for The Herd.
Then on Sunday against the Knights, the Belgian and Mokrynskaya took their doubles match 6-3 with Vanderheyden taking her singles contest in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
The Herd is back in action on Sunday at home against Wake Forest at 10 a.m. at the 7827 Tennis Center in Barboursville.
