No. 12 Marshall Men’s Soccer Picks Up Road Shutout at JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The No. 12 Marshall Men's Soccer team (7-1-4, 4-1-0 SBC) earned a clean sheet on the road with a 2-0 win over James Madison on Saturday night in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The Herd went in front in the 20th minute as Louie Salkeld finished at the top right of the goal on a Rai Pinto assist to put Marshall up 1-0. The tally marked Salkeld's first goal of the season on Pinto's first assist
Pinto doubled the lead early in the second half on his third goal of the campaign, striking in the 52nd minute to make it 2-0. The defender's goal tied Larry Noel and Joao Roberto for the team lead this season.
Marshall maintained attacking intent, tallying 11 of its 14 shots in the second half, and finished the night with a 14-5 advantage in total shots and a 9-2 edge in corners.
Eddie DeMarco anchored the back line and earned his second straight clean sheet, making two saves, including a crucial stop in the 90th minute to deny Milo Wray and preserve the shutout.
Alvaro Alvarez generated four shots for the Herd to keep pressure on the James Madison defense. The Dukes managed just five attempts in the contest.
