Marshall Kicker Lorcan Quinn Named SBC Special Teams Player of the Week

Herd’s freshman ties Marshall single-game record; leads SBC in points scored
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall freshman kicker Lorcan Quinn was named as the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Quinn earned the award after tying the Marshall record for field goals in a game, connecting on all four of his attempts – including a 48-yarder - in the Thundering Herd's 40-37 double-overtime win over Texas State on Saturday.
The freshman from Donaghmore, Ireland, is the seventh player in Marshall history to connect for four field goals in a game – the most recent coming in 2022. He is also only the fifth kicker in Herd history to finish with a perfect 4-for-4 contest.
Quinn currently leads the Sun Belt Conference with 12 made field goals on the season and also is tied for the league's longest field goal at 53 yards.
The freshman kicker also is leading the Sun Belt in scoring with 64 points and ranks in the top-20 nationally in field goals per game (T-15th) and scoring (T-17th).
In addition to the 12 made field goals, Quinn is a perfect 28-of-28 on extra point attempts and has 38 touchbacks in 45 kickoffs on the season while allowing an average starting position of the 24-yard line.
Quinn and Marshall have this week off before a key SBC East matchup at Coastal Carolina on Oct. 30.
