Herd sophomore notches golf rarity in first team action of MU career
KETTERING, Ohio – Marshall sophomore Sammy Shy earned a lifetime memory in his first team action with the Thundering Herd.
Shy notched an ace on Hole No. 13 in his first round on Monday, using a 5-iron to ace the 205-yard par-3.
It was part of the Herd's week of action at NCR Country Club in the Dayton Flyer Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon.
Among Marshall golfers, Cameron Jarvis finished 2-under over his final nine holes in Tuesday's last round to pace the Herd with a 76-75-75 week.
The best round of the week belonged to redshirt freshman Jackson Woodburn, who had consecutive birdies late in his second round en route to a 1-over 72.
Marshall freshman Jack Minutoli also had four birdies in his second round during a 2-over 73.
The tournament brought an end to the fall season for the Thundering Herd, who returns to action in late January.
