HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football heads to Conway, S.C., for a key Sun Belt Conference East Division showdown this week as the Thundering Herd takes on Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium in a Thursday night game shown on ESPN2.

PRE-GAME NOTES
Marshall head coach Tony Gibson and Coastal Carolina coach Tim Beck are no stranger to each other. They coached together for three years at N.C. State from 2020-22. Beck was the offensive coordinator for the Wolfpack while Gibson was the defensive coordinator.
In conference games, Marshall's offense leads the SBC in scoring, averaging 46 points per game during SBC play.
The Herd has shown a flair for the dramatic in SBC action with two of the team's three league contests going to double-overtime.
Marshall has had a player win each of the SBC's Weekly Awards this season. Quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson won SBC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 22), Cornerback Boogie Trotter won SBC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 13) and Kicker Lorcan Quinn won SBC Special Teams Player of the Week (Oct. 20).
Coastal Carolina is having a "White Out" for Thursday night's game and is expecting a near-record crowd. The record at Brooks Stadium is 22,217, set Sept. 6 this year. Marshall's last trip to Brooks Stadium in 2023 drew the fourth-largest crowd in history at 21,324.
The two teams have combined for 135 new players on their roster from what was seen in the 2024 season. Marshall added 74 new players in the transition as Gibson took over while Coastal Carolina brought in 61 new players.
ABOUT MARSHALL
Marshall comes into Thursday's contest at Coastal Carolina having won two straight SBC contests, including a 40-37 double-overtime win over Texas State.
The Herd offense is led by quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, who continues to be near the top in FBS in completion percentage (74.4, 2nd in FBS) and quarterback efficiency (184.1, 3rd in FBS).
Defensively, the Herd's Boogie Trotter is tied for 3rd in FBS in interceptions with four and also has a forced fumble and fumble recovery to his credit.
Marshall's turnover margin is also No. 6 in the country at +1.14 turnovers per game.

ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA

Coastal Carolina is led by head coach Tim Beck, who is in his third season with the program and has a head coaching record of 18-15.
The Chanticleers are led into the contest by quarterback Samari Collier, who brings a dual-threat game to the offense. In last week's win over App State, Collier led the rushing attack with 74 yards while throwing for 118 and a score. Coastal Carolina rushed for 246 yards and four scores against the Mountaineers.
Defensively, Xamarion Gordon leads the way with 37 tackles and also is tied for the team-lead in interceptions with two.

SERIES HISTORYÂ
This will be the fourth meeting between the two programs with Coastal Carolina holding a 2-1 series advantage. Marshall won last year's meeting in Huntington, 31-19.
