LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Marshall Cross Country competed at the Louisville Cross Country Classic Gold Races Saturday morning at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
Competing against the top competition, Saturday saw eight Herd runners finish with a new personal record.
The largest PR came from junior Hannah Toth, who led Marshall's women with a 17:43 5K time in her first race of the 2025 season. Toth's previous-best cross country time was an 18:57 at the 2023 edition of the Louisville Classic. Hannah Wyler and Destiny Berryman joined Toth in the Top-100 of the Gold Race with a 5K PR coming from Wyler at 17:49.
The Marshall women finished as the top Sun Belt Conference team with 387 points, finishing 12th out of 31 teams.
Sophomore Justin Lipscomb led the men's side for the third-consecutive meet, breaking 25 minutes for the first time in the 8K with a time of 24:58. Lipscomb and fellow-Putnam County native Brady Dawkins finished in the Top-100 of the Gold Race.
The Herd men finished 19th out of 32 teams with 521 points.
"I'm proud of both of our squads," Head Coach Caleb Bowen said. "I thought we raced well. We got some things to work on in the next month but I'm excited with where we are at this point."
