Marshall Softball Signs Five Players to 2026 Class

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Softball Head Coach Morgan Zerkle announced the addition of five signees to the incoming signing class of 2026.
"This class is very versatile, athletic and passionate about playing for the Herd," Coach Zerkle said. "I look forward to the depth that they will add to our team, as well as the sheer quality of people we will have the privilege of bringing to Marshall."
Joining the Herd ahead of the 2026-27 athletic calendar will be Carmen Boxberger, Jaycie Goad, Kennedy Lamb, Makenna Pirnat, and Megan Sumner.
Carmen Boxberger
Raymore, Mo.
Raymore-Peculiar High School
Infield/Outfield Util. - B/T: L/R
Carmen Boxberger is a left-handed hitter, right-handed fielder from Raymore, Missouri, the second player from the state to suit up for the Herd. Boxberger helped lead her Raymore-Peculiar High School to the Missouri Class 5 State Championship, earning First Team All-Conference, All-District, and All-Tournament Teams in the process.

Jaycie Goad
Catlettsburg, Ky.
Boyd County High School
Infield Util., B/T: R/R
Jaycie Goad is a right-handed infielder and hitter from Boyd County, Kentucky. Goad is the all-time home run and RBI leader at Boyd County High School entering her final season of play. Goad has twice earned KHSAA First Team All-State, claiming First Team All-Area on four occasions.

Kennedy Lamb
Fort Mohave, Ariz.
Fort Mohave Accelerated Learning Center
Pitcher/INF, B/T: R/R
Kennedy Lamb comes to Marshall from Fort Mohave, Arizona with success on both sides of the field. Lamb has over 400 strikeouts in her high school career. She also possesses over 40 home runs and 150 RBI as a hitter. Lamb pitched her team to the AIA 2A State runner-up trophy from last season. She earned ExtraInnings Softball's 4.0 GPA National Honor Roll.

Makenna Pirnat
Santa Maria, Calif.
St. Joseph High School
Infield/Outfield Util., B/T: R/R
Makenna Pirnat is a right-handed utility player from Santa Maria, California. Pirnat is an all-around athlete, as a four-year starter for both softball and soccer, earning three CIF Championships. In softball, she has been part of back-to-back Mountain League Champions with St. Joseph in softball. She is a lifetime .379 for her travel ball Wildcats Weir 18U.

Megan Sumner
Maumee, Ohio.
Anthony Wayne High School
C/Util., B/T: R/R
Megan Sumner is right handed hitter and catcher/utility player from Maumee, Ohio. Sumner earned 1st Team All-OHSFCA Division II as a junior. Coming off a season where she hit .486 with nine homers, 16 doubles and 36 RBI in 2025, Sumner was named a finalist for Ohio Catcher of the Year.
