HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Basketball delivered a 100-point performance Tuesday night, rolling past Salem 105-31 at the Cam Henderson Center. The Herd improved to 3-2, treating the home crowd to both an offensive and defensive clinic on Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day.
Marshall had seven players in double figures, the most in recent memory for the program. The 74-point margin of victory stands as the largest since the 2016-17 season, and the 105 points scored is a new season-high. Defensively, the Herd forced a season-high 39 turnovers
"Overall after the first five minutes, we settled into what we were trying to accomplish tonight, which was making sure we were executing the offense," Head Coach Juli Fulks said. "When we get two reversals we are scoring at a really high rate, so we were trying to have more possessions which were under control. Going into the season we didn't know we would be having as many steals a game as we do, we have been averaging 15, we had 27 tonight. So just making sure when we have steals, we are calm with the ball and going down and getting good possessions."
Of the seven in double figures, leading the way was Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, who scored 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Ni'Kiah Chesterfield and Meredith Maier each poured in 16 points, with Maier adding five rebounds, two assists and five steals while Chesterfield dominated the paint and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.
Timberlynn Yeast provided a near double-double with 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Kassie Ingram came off the bench to add 12 points and a pair of triples.
