Herd Starts Strong at Miami Invitational in 800 Freestyle Relay

OXFORD, Ohio – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team started the Miami Invitational strong Wednesday night in the 800 Freestyle Relay.
"I thought there were so good takeaways from this evening. Always tough to compete the same day of travel. The eight women navigated it well," Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said. "The highlight was the quartet of Molly, Maddie, Elyse, and Preslava tied for the win and set our 6th Fastest 800 Free Relay in program history. Elyse had an exceptional 3rd leg tonight, rolling a 1:48.94. This bested her previous best of 1:54.10."Â

The team of Molly Warner, Maddie Emment, Elyse Wood and Preslava Tosheva combined to finish tied for first in the event and set the sixth fastest time in program history at 7:20.11.

In ninth, the quartet of Allison Dodd, Karley Wolfgram, Sadie Rogers and Lauren McNamara finished the race in 7:37.74.

"A lot of adjustments to make for tomorrow and the staff is excited to have the rest of the group competing in the morning."
