HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall Track & Field hosts its final meet of the season with the Marshall Invitational starting on Friday, Feb. 14. The first events of Friday from the Chris Cline Athletic Complex start at 5 p.m.
Saturday will be a Senior Day recognition at 11:30 a.m. where the program will honor 15 of its athletes competing in their final home meet in Huntington.
"We will be honoring 15 seniors this weekend," Director of Track & Field Keith Roberts said. "I am very appreciative of the commitment they have given to Marshall University during their time with the program. They have experienced changes over the years and have embraced what we are trying to do with the program. While I'm sad to see them compete in their final home meet I am also excited to see them accomplish great things in their future. It is our goal to send them out on the highest possible note."
An hour prior at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the program will host "The Fastest Kid in Huntington" event, a race for all kids grades 8th and under to compete on the Marshall University Track. For more information, click HERE.
"The 'Fastest Kid in Huntington' is a great opportunity to get kids from our local community involved with collegiate athletics," Roberts said. "It's important that we teach our student athletes to give back and support the local community. It's a privilege to be in a position that allows you to be a role model and I want that to remain a big part of our program. It is also a great way to get the youth to appreciate the benefits of athletics."

The weekend's meet will also be the Herd's final regular season indoor meet. The Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships begin in Birmingham, Ala. on Monday, Feb. 24.
"We're definitely looking forward to our last meet before Conference, especially being at home in front of our home crowd," Coach Roberts said. "Our kids will have one more opportunity to sharpen up before Conference and some have to earn Conference spots. This meet will definitely set us up for a great Conference Championship next week!"
