HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team finished day one at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday highlighted by three top five times in program history as The Herd is tied for first.

"A great start for our team tonight!" Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Walsh said after the first day of the competition. "Our 200 Medley Relay was third fastest in program history, just off our team record. Our Team Diving group received their highest score since the new event was introduced three years ago. Our 800 Free Relay was our 5th Fastest in program history. Molly Warner also led off in a lifetime best swim (1:48.41) and is now second all-time in program history."

The 200 Medley Relay led off the SBC Championships. The Herd's team of Kseniia Luniushina, Paige Banton, Madeline Hart and Audrey West brought home the gold in the event with a time of 1:40.80 for the third fastest time in program history, just over half of a second off the program all-time mark.

Then in team diving, Ally Humbert, Grace Kelsheimer and MJ Leviaguirre recorded the team's highest score since the even was introduced three years ago at 256.80.

The evening was concluded with 800 Freestyle Relay. The team of Molly Warner, Madeline Hart, Preslava Tosheva and Eszter Laban finished with a time of 7:19.85 registering the fifth fastest time in program history. Warner's 200 leadoff leg split of 1:48.41 set the second fastest 200 Freestyle time in program history.

"We are excited to have the rest of our team compete tomorrow. There are a lot of opportunities for this group and look forward to a fun morning session."
