Herd Tennis Prepares for Three Matches This Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (8-1) is set to host Illinois State (4-3) and Radford (1-1) on Friday before traveling to Morgantown for a contest at WVU (6-4) on Sunday this weekend.

PREMATCH NOTES

The Herd picked up its first win in program history over VCU on Sunday, 4-2, in Richmond, Virginia. Aisling McGrane sealed the contest at No. 5 singles.
Sophia Hurrion is 7-2 in singles this Spring with McGrane sporting a 6-2 record.
In doubles, Hurrion is 6-1 including 4-1 at No. 2 doubles with McGrane.

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE

The Redbirds are set for their first match since February 12 at Butler in a 4-1 win.
Illinois State has also picked up wins over Western Illinois, UIS and Marquette this season.

SCOUTING RADFORD

The Highlanders enter the weekend 1-1 with a 6-1 win at George Mason on February 1 and a 6-1 loss at Liberty on February 8.
Lexi Smolder is 2-0 at No. 3 singles this season.
The duo of Brooke Murphy and Michaela Stephens is 2-0 at No. 3 doubles.

SCOUTING WVU

The Mountaineers enter the weekend on a four-match winning streak after taking contests over both Temple and Toledo by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.
Juli Brousseau sports a 5-3 record at No. 2 singles with Mille Haagensen 5-4 at No. 1 singles.
The doubles pairing of Laura Morillo Villanueva and Michaela Kucharova are 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.
