McGrane seals match at No. 5 singles

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (6-0) remains undefeated after gutting out a 4-3 win over the Indiana Hoosiers (3-2) on Friday evening.
Aisling McGrane sealed the contest for The Herd with a straight-sets triumph at No. 5 singles.
"Ash did a great job finishing out the match," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said. "I was really impressed with Indiana's fight, but our seniors brought good fight to enable us to get the win."
Marshall started the contest out hot with the duo of Emma Vanderheyden and Alina Mokrynskaya taking their match at No. 1 doubles with Sophia Hurrion and McGrane capturing the doubles point for Marshall at No. 2 doubles.
The sides traded singles contests. After the Hoosiers tied the match 1-1, Hurrion took her contest at No. 4 singles to retake a 2-1 lead. IU made it 2-2 with a win No. 3 singles, but Vanderheyden answered with a win at No. 2.
Indiana then tied the match with a win on court six, leaving the match up to McGrane at No. 5 singles. The senior dugout the win with a tiebreak in set one followed by a 7-5 set two win to keep MU undefeated.
Hurrion moved to 6-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles, including 2-0 with McGrane, during the Spring.
