Herd Travels to JMU for First Sun Belt Conference Road Trip

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Winners of three straight and 10 of its last 12, Marshall Softball (16-13, 2-1 SBC) travels to JMU (11-13, 0-3 SBC) for its first conference road series in 2025.
First pitch Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m.Â

Coach Morgan Zerkle
- Marshall is in its second season under Head Coach Morgan Zerkle. The 2017 All-American for the Herd led the team that season with a .476 average en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Herd has made two NCAA Regionals in its history (2013 & 2017). Â
- Zerkle - the Milton, West Virginia native - has been drafted to the AUSL's Bandits this past January, alongside Assistant Coach Sydney McKinney.Â
MARSHALL NOTES
- The Herd has found its rhythm in the month of March, having won 11 of its 15 games since the calendar has turned. Marshall is hitting .315 as a team, third in the conference.
- Marshall pitching has found its stride. During its 10 wins in its last 12 contests, five different pitchers have earned a win in the circle. In Wednesday's victory over Ohio, MU won its first game of the season when getting outhit.

ABOUT JMU
- James Madison is 11-13 overall. The Dukes were swept in three close games on the road at South Alabama to begin league play. Â
- Two-way player Peyton List is the reigning SBC Freshman of the Year. List is third in the conference with a .420 average. She is also second in pitching earned run average, with a 1.66 ERA. Â
- JMU swept the three-game series in Harrisonburg last season. The all-time series is tied at five.Â
