Solid final day of play at Magnolia Grove highlights tourney action
MOBILE, Ala. – Marshall Men's Golf finished up its last day at the 2025 Mobile Bay Intercollegiate with two top-20 finishers at Magnolia Grove Golf Club.
J.F. Aber finished in a tie for 12th place at 2-under for the tournament while Joseph Kalaskey earned a tie for 16th at 1-under as both players ended the week under par.
"It was a good week for the team. I felt like we got better this week," Marshall Men's Golf head coach Matt Grobe said. "J.F. played solid this week and finished at 2-under while Joseph finished 1-under and in 16th place. The other guys also played well in stretches."
Kalaskey shot a 1-under 70 during Tuesday's final round to join teammate Cameron Jarvis – also a 1-under 70 – as players who went under-par on the day.
For Kalaskey, it was his second round under par in the tournament, after he fired a 5-under 66 to start the week.
Kalaskey had four birdies during a six-hole stretch of Tuesday's final round to aid his efforts in finishing under-par in the tournament.
Jarvis had five birdies in his final round – the most of any Herd golfer on the day – as he got things working to close the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Aber finished the top round for the week by a Marshall golfer when he concluded his weather-delayed second round at 4-under 67. Aber bogeyed his first hole of the day, but proceeded to have five birdies over his final 17 holes of the round to aid with his strong finish.
As a team, Marshall finished seventh in the standings. Host South Alabama won the event.
For Marshall, the turnaround will be a quick one as the team returns Wednesday before heading back out this weekend for the Golfweek/AGT Invitational at True Blue Golf Course in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
