No. 50 Herd Tennis to Open SBC Play at JMU, at No. 36 ODU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 50 Marshall University Tennis team (11-1) is set to begin Sun Belt Conference play this weekend with matches at James Madison (2-8) on Friday and at the No. 36 Old Dominion Monarchs (5-3) on Sunday.

PREMATCH NOTES

The Herd is back on the court for the first time since February 16 when it picked up a win at West Virginia.
Sophia Hurrion sports a 10-2 record this spring, including 7-2 at the No. 4 position.
At the No. 1 position in singles, Johanna Strom is 7-4 in 2025.
In doubles, Marshall is 23-7 including the duo of Hurrion and Aisling McGrane at 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.

SCOUTING JMU

The Dukes are coming off a 4-0 sweep of VCU on Saturday.
Daria Munteanu was named the SBC Player of the Week on Wednesday for her performance against the Rams. Munteanu took her contest at No. 1 singles and clinched the doubles point with Hope Moulin at No. 3 doubles.

SCOUTING ODU

The Monarchs are on a three-match winning streak after wins over Kansas, Princeton and Maryland across the last three weeks.
ODU hosts App State on Saturday before its match against The Herd on Sunday.
Sofia Johnson is 17-5 in singles during the 2024-25 season and ranked No. 10 with only one loss during the Spring at NC State.
