Hawkins’ Strong Effort Caps Herd’s 2025 SBC Women’s Golf Tournament

McLatchey’s successful Marshall career closes out at The Lakewood Club
POINT CLEAR, Ala. – Marshall freshman Savannah Hawkins finished the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Tournament with a 2-under 70 on Wednesday as the Thundering Herd closed out its Spring season.
Hawkins' 2-under 70 was the second-best round out of all competitors on Wednesday. She finished with five birdies in a strong final-round performance.
Hawkins came out of the gate firing at the pin on Wednesday. After opening with a par, the Hurricane native carded three consecutive birdies to gain momentum early in her round. She later added birdies on No. 1 and No. 5.
The tournament helped end the tournament on a positive note for Herd and Marshall's team, which finished 12th in the team standings after stroke play.
The end of stroke play meant the last tournament for Marshall senior Emily McLatchey, who finished her successful four-year career on Wednesday by leading the Herd with a T-30 finish.
McLatchey had a pair of birdies during Wednesday's round and finished with three straight pars.
Madison Borders also saw a successful day for the Herd, shooting a 3-over 75 with three birdies in her round.
Georgia Southern won the team Stroke Play portion and advances to the Match Play semifinals, along with Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss and ULM. Southern Miss' golfer Momoka Ando won the individual Stroke Play portion and advances to the NCAAs.
