Herd Softball Shuts Out Georgia Southern in Series Opener

STATESBORO, Ga. — For the first time this season, Marshall Softball (27-21, 11-8 SBC) has pitched back-to-back shutouts with a 5-0 victory over Georgia Southern (27-21, 11-8 SBC). Junior Bub Feringa earned the win with just two hits allowed across six innings of work.
The Herd chased the league's ERA leader with three runs in the 2nd and another an inning later. Redshirt junior Brooklyn Ulrich kept her hot-hitting with an RBI double to score Feringa. Redshirt freshman Chandler Hoskins followed with a first-pitch solo shot to left.
In the following frame, senior Kasia Parks hit her eight home run of the season to right. She showcased the variety in her game with a safety squeeze RBI to score Diamond Leslie and Marshall's fifth run.

The offense provided for Feringa who won her eighth game in the circle. The senior struck out two and did not allow a hit to reach the outfield grass.

Freshman Jules King finished the game out by striking out the side in the 7th.
Game two is at 3 p.m. Saturday as the Herd seeks its second conference road series win.
