McGrane sealed match at No. 4 singles for Marshall

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – The No. 64 Marshall University Tennis team (16-4, 5-3 SBC) closed the weekend with a 4-0 sweep of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (10-8, 4-4 SBC) Sunday at the 7827 Tennis Center in Barboursville.
"I thought we played really well in doubles, Nel (Van Hout) played great in her doubles match with JoJo (Strom) to get us off to a really good start," Herd Tennis Head Coach John Mercer said. "Then we rolled into singles and got three solid wins. We just need to keep working hard and get ready for next week."
The Herd quickly pounced on the Chanticleers in doubles. Sophia Hurrion and Aisling McGrane did not drop a game in a 6-0 victory over Aida Mitrache and Brunelle Kouam at No. 2 doubles.
Johanna Strom and Nel Van Hout then closed out doubles with a 6-3 triumph at the No. 3 position over Brooke Rogers and Sarah Clark.
Marshall carried its momentum into singles with Hurrion, Emma Vanderheyden and McGrane closing their respective contests in straight sets.
Hurrion won 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5, Vanderheyden 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 with McGrane sealing the win 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4.
