Super Bowl Champion, Herd Hall of Famer to serve as keynote speaker at Quarterback Club’s signature annual event
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Super Bowl Champion and Marshall Hall of Famer Vinny Curry will serve as the keynote speaker at the 2025 Marshall Football Quarterback Club Reverse Raffle, which takes place at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Marshall Health Network Arena.
Curry will be joined by former Marshall teammate Delvin Johnson, whom he played defensive line with for the Herd from 2008-11. The emcee for the event will be WSAZ-TV Sports Director Keith Morehouse.
One of the keynote events on the annual calendar for Marshall Athletics, the QB Club Reverse Raffle brings together Marshall supporters from near and far to raise funds and excitement for Marshall Football ahead of the upcoming season.
Cost for the event is $200 per person and patrons must be 21 or over to attend. The purchase of a ticket for the 2025 Reverse Raffle entitles the attendee to dinner and an open bar, live music and dancing, entry into raffle drawings for up to $5,000 and a live Q&A session with the featured speakers.
Curry, one of the most beloved Sons of Marshall in program history, starred for the Thundering Herd from 2007-11, winning the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2011.
Following his Marshall career, Curry continued to showcase his love for the Thundering Herd. After being selected in the 2nd round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, Curry traded in his No. 99 for No. 75 – a tribute to the 75 lives lost in the 1970 Marshall Plane Crash.
Curry went on to a great 11-year NFL career, winning Super Bowl LII with the Eagles – his childhood favorite team – while also playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2018) and New York Jets (2021-22).
The Neptune, N.J., native appeared in 134 career games in his NFL career, compiling 209 tackles, 32.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Even in retirement, Curry gave a nod to Marshall, signing a deal to retire as No. 75 with the Philadelphia Eagles while announcing his retirement on Nov. 14, 2024 – a day that he also served as honorary captain for a game against the Washington Commanders.
In addition to Curry and Johnson, Morehouse will also be joined on stage by Frank Loria, Jr., the son of former Marshall assistant Frank Loria, Sr., who passed away in the 1970 Marshall Plane Crash.
Loria and Morehouse's father, Gene – Marshall's Play-by-Play Voice – were two of 75 patrons aboard Southern Airways Flight 932, which crashed on Nov. 14, 1970, upon return from a 17-14 loss at East Carolina.
