Men's Golf standout earns distinction as one of top scholar-athletes in At-Large division
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Men's Golf graduate J.F. Aber was named as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American At-Large Third Team selection on Wednesday, as announced by CSC.
It is the first time in Marshall Men's Golf history that the program has had a CSC Academic All-American.
Aber was one of only two student-athletes across the three Division I Academic All-American At-Large teams to earn a 4.0 in both his undergraduate and graduate studies, putting him in an elite category on the national level.
"We are extremely proud of J.F. for what in all he was able to accomplish with our program," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "J.F. was the definition of a scholar-athlete, leading the way with consistency on the course and in his studies. We congratulate J.F. on this awesome accomplishment!"
In addition to his excellence in his studies, Aber was the benchmark of consistency on the course as well, finishing with a 71.8 stroke average across 31 rounds in the 2024-25 season.
That consistency led to Aber finishing in the top-25 in nine of 11 events in which he competed in the 2024-25 season.
Aber's top finish came at the River Run Collegiate in the fall where he was T-2 at event's end. He also finished T-3 at the Joe Feaganes Invitational and later was T-6 at the Peoples Championship – an effort that started a run of four straight top-15 finishes.
