Herd men selected fifth in SBC Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll were revealed Friday, with the Marshall women being picked third out of 13 schools.
The polls - which nearly mirror the results of the 2024 Championships - selected App State as the favorite for the women. The Herd men were picked fifth, with the defending champions App State also tabbed as the favorite.
"I'm just excited to get started with the year," Head Coach Caleb Bowen said. "These preseason polls are always fun to look at but at the end of the day, it's all about using them as motivation for the conference championship. Our goal coming into each year is to beat our preseason ranking and this year is no different."
The Herd women return several scorers from last year's championship race including senior Hannah Wyler, a 2024 SBC Second Team All-Conference member.
The men return its top four finishers from the championships in Foley, Ala.
"I think this team has the tools to do something really special. We just have to train them up and do what we can to keep them healthy"
