Herd Cross Country Travels to Southern Showcase Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Cross Country hits the road for the first time in 2025 when it travels to Huntsville, Ala. for the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State University.Â
The men's 8K race will start at 8:30 a.m. eastern, 7:30 local Friday morning, with the women's 5K race set for 9:30 a.m., 8:30 local. 54 women's teams and 51 men's teams will be present at the John Hunt Cross Country Park.
"The course is expected to be very fast so we are really excited to be on this course," Head Coach Caleb Bowen said. "This will be such a big race so it will be challenging to know exactly where we are at all times with 400-plus runners in each race, but it will be a really good opportunity for our athletes to practice running out fast from the gun, getting out well, and positioning well within a big meet setting. Our goal is to do well against the likes of our conference-members and see how we stack up."
